As a Microsoft MVP I was given three Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate with MSDN subscription activation cards for me to give away. This is to celebrate the launch of Visual Studio 2010 and .NET Framework 4. I chose to distribute these activation cards to persons in online communities and I used twitter to see how many I could reach.
I announced a ReTweet contest from my twitter account.
I have 3 Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate with MSDN subscription (12 months) to give away. RT this and you might be the lucky one!
I was quite amazed by the number of re-tweets and totally the numbers of RT ended on 42. All this in less than 16 hours!
When I was going to draw three winners from all the re-tweeters I felt that putting the names in a hat and draw was a bit old fashion. As the mobility geek I am I swiftly created a Windows Mobile application (I know it’s called Windows Phone, but I stick to the name Windows Mobile for 6.x version and less. Old habits die hard). This was just a simple application where I entered the number of re-tweets and then the application randomly chose three numbers between 1 and the numbers of re-tweets.
As you can see from the screenshot above the application draw retweeter number 1, 12 and 31 to be the lucky winners of the Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate with MSDN subscription. Now I used TweetDeck to find the persons who re-tweeted according to the numbers. No one can say that this draw was unfair 😉
I hope you will enjoy your Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate and your MSDN subscription.
To the rest of you: Thank you for attending and it might be your turn next time.
