I would like to add on one more technique to this article to improve the page rank.

Try getting links from reputable sites and similar sites. Reputable sites that link to you will increase your reputation which means your page has more value.

Inbound links from sites similar to your own are important as it indicates that your competition finds your site valuable, and that gives your site more credibility.

That is correct, you will also see that with an improved page rank you will get different visitors as well. Before I did the steps described above most of my visitors came from social networks like twitter and technorati but now I see that numbers of visitors landing from google and other search engines are increasing rapidly.
