Have you ever wondered how many percent of the traffic on your web site are generated from mobile devices? Thanks to PercentMobile there are no need wondering anymore.
I got in contact with David Harper the founder and CEO of PercentMobile and he kindly gave me a free invitation code so I were able to test the Mobile Analytics by PercentMobile. Mr. Harper is a productive man, he is also the founder and CEO of Delivr.com and TigTags.com (were he joined original TigTags founders; Stan Weichers and Alex Rondeau). He provided me with a free invitation code for me to share with my readers. I have now tested PercentMobile for a couple of days and I will share my experiences with you.
It is very easy to get started. Just go to www.percentmobile.com and sign up. When signing up use the all exclusive invitation code for breathingtech.com readers: haveflag
The next step is to add some lines pixel-based code to your site, place it in the body tag of the pages you want tracking for. I’m using WordPress and added this code right after the body tag in my header.php file. This is all you need to do, now you need to wait for mobile traffic and for your account to be activated (took a little bit over 24 hours before I could see my report).
You can share your mobile percentage score live on your site by adding a few lines code that PercentMobile generates for you. There are two widgets available for showing your score. Below you can see these two widgets displaying the live PercentMobile score for my site.
Now you can sit back and look at the mobile analytics for your site. What kind of information are PercentMobile giving you?
You get an easy to read report telling you:
- How many percent of your traffic are generated from mobile devices.
- How many different devices have visited your page
- How many different countries your mobile visitors are from
- How many percent of them are using WiFi
- The mobile ecosystem on your page, showing the different brands and models
- Showing the top 5 device brands
- Showing the top 5 device screen dimensions
- Showing the top 5 service providers
- Showing the top 5 provider countries
Below you can see a sample report.
You can also view the sample report on PercentMobile. The reports are public and you can refer to your report by using a given url (you see the url when you view your own report).
It is great to be able to have this kind of information about your visitors. You can use it to check what kind of user experience your mobile visitors are having. Why not test your site for the most popular devices and try to make their visit even more joyful. If you are in the mobile application business you can use this to see what devices and platforms you should focus on when you are developing your next applications. And last but not least I find it very interesting and fun to see visiting patterns on my site.
I recommend you to try this your selves. It is very easy to get started and in my opinion this service is great. I’m loving it! Thanks to David Harper and PercentMobile for offering us this for free. PercentMobile is built on top of TigTags which is the enterprise version for mobile analytics. TigTags will give you much more detailed reports, similar to Google Analytics. Maybe I find the stats from PercentMobile so interesting and useful that I will start using TigTags after a while.
After using PercentMobile for a few days I allready see that a lot of my mobile visitors are using Windows Mobile, I guess I have to start optimizing my page for those devices now
What’s your PercentMobile score?
